Schedule: Monday-Thursday approximately 7am-5:30pm, flexible start and end time.

Overview:

Assist the soil and water program staff in collection and input of soil and hydrologic data. Significant training provided with many opportunities for hands on learning experiences. Hydrology Technician conducting Groundwater Dependent Ecosystem (GDE) monitoring, water quality/quantity measurements, riparian condition assessments, and occasionally assisting fisheries with fish populations and amphibian surveys. Work involved riding an ATV frequently, driving a four wheel drive, and navigating rugged back country terrain. Experience in rugged backcountry terrain preferred. Experience collecting scientific data accurately and the ability to be autonomous also preferred. There will be times when the candidate is in the field alone. Following proper check-in/out and safety protocol is required. Possibility for camping in the field. Housing not offered at this time.

Position Responsibilities:

The Hydrology Technician Intern will collect data for: water uses, water quality, stream functioning and soil disturbance. The position will require data management within agency databases and other duties as required according to project descriptions This position may walk/hike over rough terrain and be subject to varying weather conditions in the field.

Qualifications:

The position requires experience working outdoors in a field setting, critical thinking, and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, working well in a group, and proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing software are required. Applicants who possess these skills, and are pursuing a degree in fields related to earth science, will be given priority consideration. All are encouraged to apply.
